How we started

Konye’s version

As many of you know, we met online in the spring of 2022 and not long after I asked him to go to lunch with me and we finally met in person about a week later. Now he says he doesn’t recall this part but I saw what I saw and i’m very certain that as I approached the bench where he was sat waiting for me, (A queen is never late, everyone else is simply early...) I saw him make the YES! arm motion like he won lol, and in many ways, he had won... We both did honestly because that was the beginning of the rest of our lives, our lives full of laughter and inside jokes that only us 2 understand, full of hope, support and perseverance. I often say, mostly to myself, how I feel like God himself placed me in his heart, this is how certain I am of our connection. See there wasnt really a start date for us, we just went to lunch one time and we both decided this is where we want to be, in each other’s light, for the rest of time. So we invite you, all of our most favorite people to join us in this beautiful celebration of our love.

How we started

Matty’s version

That's not how I remember it. We chatted for a week, then on April 29th Konye impromtu invited me to lunch. She had an errand in East Pittsburgh in the morning, and we both lived west of the city so she asked to meet for lunch on her way back. (Funnily enough we lived 15 minutes from each other for many years and frequented the same places, even went to the same college at different times. We always say we were orbiting each other until we met.) Anyone who knows Pittsburgh knows there are a lot of tunnels, bridges, and traffic so her running late was understandable. I don't recall making the "Yes!" arm motion, I'm pretty sure I said "Damn!" to myself because she was so much prettier in person than her photos. It's difficult to explain to someone who hasn't experienced it, but there is a time before, where you lived your life in ignorance then you woke up. Like trying to explain what it's like to eat perfectly cooked Wagyu steak to someone who only has ever eaten McDonald's. I have a phrase "There's you then who?" because she was and is everything I ever wanted or needed in a partner. There is no one like her and I am grateful she is mine and I am hers. We've shared laughter and joy, sorrow and tears. It feels like we've always been together so please join us in our celebration to make true what we already feel.
