FAQs

The Wedding Website of Ashley Ploussard and Colin Koman
To help you get your bearings, here’s a map of CMDX and a quick overview: The host hotel, Andaz by Hyatt, is in the Condesa neighborhood — a lively area full of cafes, restaurants, and Art Deco charm. We’ve also shared additional hotel/dining recs in Condesa and Roma Norte, both neighborhoods are perfect for soaking up CDMX’s food, drinks, and culture! The wedding venue, Casa Xipe, is in Coyoacán, a vibrant, artsy neighborhood in the south that’s a bit more laid-back than the bustling streets of Condesa and Roma. If you have any additional questions please don't hesitate to reach out to us!
Question

Are kids invited?

Answer

We love your kids—we really do, but we want our wedding to be your night off!

Question

Do I have to have a passport to get to Mexico?

Answer

YES! Passports are required to get into Mexico (the real ID will not work). Please check the expiration date on your passport in advance to give you ample time to renew if need be.

Question

What's the best way to get to the hotel from the airport?

Answer

Uber! Uber is widely available, cheap, and easy to use throughout CDMX. Please note that Lyft does not operate in Mexico, so be sure to have the Uber app downloaded and ready to go.

Question

Can I use American dollar or my credit / debit card in Mexico?

Answer

Most restaurants / bars, stores and hotels take credit / debit cards along with pesos. If you do charge items to your credit or debit cards, make sure you ask them to charge you in pesos, as you will get a better exchange rate from your bank. Be sure to contact your bank to let them know you are traveling out of the country so they don't freeze your card.

Question

Should I bring Pesos (Local Mexican Currency)?

Answer

Pesos are great to have for tipping and shopping the street vendors! For the best exchange rate you can order pesos in advance at your bank prior to your travel.

Question

Will my cell phone work in Mexico?

Answer

Most cell phone carriers have unlimited and free calls and texts in Mexico. However, to be sure you are not charged with international data and roaming charges please contact your carrier. All hotels do have wireless internet, so you will be able to connect to Wifi to text or email. You can also download Whatsapp to your phone for free international texting.

Question

Is the water safe to drink in CDMX?

Answer

While Mexico City’s tap water is treated, we recommend using bottled or filtered water for drinking and brushing your teeth during your stay. Most hotels and restaurants use purified water for cooking and ice, so dining out is generally safe and worry-free. When in doubt, stick to sealed bottled water! Hydration is key as CDMX is at a surprisingly high elevation of 7,350 ft!

Question

When should we come / how long are people staying?

Answer

It is completely up to you! Our hope for hosting a destination wedding in CDMX is that you will make a vacation out of it. The majority of our family and close friends will be staying Friday, May 22nd - Wednesday, May 27th.
