Our story began on June 22nd, 2022 at a Spokane Indians baseball game. Isabella was there as a plus-one for a friend, and Joe was there for his accounting firm’s summer event while interning that summer. A simple introduction turned into hours of conversation—we spent the entire game chatting, and by the end of the night, we both knew there was something different about this connection. It didn’t take long before we became attached at the hip. From the start, our time together was filled with fun and laughter—whether we were hanging out at the cat café, exploring coffee shops, or going thrifting, every date felt like an adventure. Our first official date is still one of our favorite memories. We walked from Isabella’s college house all the way to downtown Spokane to grab coffee. Joe ordered a turmeric latte (which Isabella thought was a little weird at the time), and she stuck with her trusty chai. Afterwards, we wandered into a thrift store, talking nonstop the whole way. It was a scorching hot day, and Joe—very committed to his burgundy pants—was absolutely sweating through it, which only made the day more memorable (and a little funny). Looking back, it feels like fate had been pushing us toward each other for a while. We both went to Gonzaga and even had a class together—Sociology of Sports—where Isabella once tried chatting with Joe (he didn’t quite pick up on it then). We even unknowingly spent spring break that same year in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, staying at the exact same resort. After so many almost-crossings, it only took one summer night at the ballpark for everything to finally click. From that day forward, we never looked back—the rest is history. On April 26, 2025, while on a family trip to Maui, Hawaii, Joe got down on one knee and asked Isabella to spend forever together. With the ocean waves behind us it was the perfect continuation of our story—a story that all started with a baseball game, a chai, and (of course) a turmeric latte.
