Conner moved down to Charlotte in the beginning of 2024, and shortly after, met Meghan at a mutual friend’s bonfire. Meghan was a seasoned veteran of the city, and decided to DM Conner about different groups and events as her way of showing him she was intrigued by him. Conner, being new to the city, just thought it was good ole fashion southern hospitality! Meghan being a leader of the Young Adult group at Saint Ann Catholic Church, would post upcoming events they were hosting, and Conner went to every one he could with hopes that she would be there. Meghan and Conner always made it a point to find each other and talk one-on-one at the events they both attended. What they didn’t know at the time is that each of them were also talking about the other to their friends. On Valentine’s Day of 2025, Conner decided to not talk to just his friends about her anymore. He texted Meghan (thinking she was single, and she was) asking if she wanted to hang out with a group of friends going out (he was only going out with one other buddy). Later that week, his buddy let it slip that Conner was talking about Meghan all night on Valentine’s Day. Knowing this, Meghan decided to invite him to trivia THREE WEEKS AWAY. Meghan left the conversation at “hopefully I see you before then!”. Conner wasn’t leaving it up to chance and asked her on a date to Little Mama’s in South Park. The rest is history. Over the next year, Meghan and Conner grew closer together through conversation, prayer, and laughter. The two of them went to their first mass together on Ash Wednesday in 2025. Meghan warned Conner that going to mass together would have the community jump to conclusions about the two of them sitting together; Conner was all for it. After that, they would attend every 7 AM daily mass together, growing even closer in their faith. Conner felt his calling to Meghan and started putting a plan in place to use this special routine as how he would ask her to marry him. First a conversation with their priest, Father Reid. Next, a LinkedIn message to Meghan’s boss to ask if she could take off on the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday (which he had to get a free trial of LinkedIn premium for). Then, ring shopping, and finally, asking Meghan’s father for his blessing. Meghan’s dad was almost as caught off guard when Conner asked him for his blessing as Meghan was when he got down on one knee. Ash Wednesday 2026 was a first for Meghan and Conner once again; this time it was their first mass together as an engaged couple.
