Kohl and Anna were both attending Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. It was the summer before Kohl’s junior year and Anna’s sophomore year. Anna had just started a new job at Carillon Catering as a Banquet Server where Kohl was a Student Manager. Anna was working a wedding when Kohl walked in the room. Halfway through her dinner break, she was stuffing her face full of mashed potatoes. Kohl walked by noticing her pretty eyes and love of carbohydrates. Anna noticed him and said, "Your hair is fascinating." The rest is history.

Kohl arranged a trip back to Miami University because a friend was in town and he wanted to go to Skipper's (our favorite college dive bar). When they arrived on campus, Kohl told Anna that no one else was there yet, so they decided to walk through the Shriver Center where they first met to see the updated renovations while they waited. Then they walked around the middle of campus on the way to the bench by the Miami Seal where they decided that they were a couple four and a half years before. After sitting on the bench for a while and reminiscing about their years in college, Kohl got down on one knee, pulled a ring out of his pocket, and popped the question! After Anna realized that he wasn't joking or she wasn't seeing things, she said YES! After she stopped crying, they finally headed to Skipper's to celebrate with college friends who were waiting!
