It all started in 2009… Nicole’s friend (Hailee) had randomly met Jared online. Nicole was at Hailee’s house and they were “Skyping” (video chatting) Jared. These video chats continued when Hailee and Nicole would hang out. Eventually…. Jared got Nicole’s phone number from Hailee and they starting talking more and more. Time went on and they continued to talk. Things eventually faded and Nicole and Jared started dating other people. These relationships both turned into long-term relationships that lasted about 2.5 years. After Jared’s relationship ended, he contacted Haliee to get “the scoop” on Nicole. Nicole was at the end of her long-term relationship as well and was completely heartbroken. Unexpectedly, Nicole received a text from Jared and now looking back, it was probably one of the best texts she had ever received. The texts turned into phone calls and the phone calls turned into Facetimes but unfortunately, Nicole was not ready to move on. They continued to talk for the next 9 months. Jared asking Nicole to be his girlfriend about once a month for 9 months but she continuously turned him down. Good thing he is persistent… Eventually, Nicole said yes and they began dating in February 2013 while Jared was on his second tour in Afghanistan. Yes, they started dating while he was 6,000 miles away and yes, they have never met before in person. Talk about a leap of faith. They spent countless hours Facetiming just waiting for the chance to meet face to face. At this time, Nicole’s cousin Larry was attending Full Sail University in Winter Park, FL. Nicole and her best friend Kayla had planned a trip to visit Larry. Jared had recently returned from Afghanistan and was back in Destin, FL where he was stationed. Although still being 6 hours away (a lot closer than 6,000 miles or 14.5 hours), Jared found this to be the perfect opportunity to finally meet for the first-time face to face. On August 18th, 2013 they FINALLY met!

The relationship continued to be long distance (FL to PA) from February 2013-August 2015. They would make trips to see each other about every 3-6 months. Jared still had two years left of active duty and Nicole was pursuing her bachelor’s degree at California University of Pennsylvania. Time passed, Jared separated from the military and took a job in Greenville, South Carolina. Nicole had just received her bachelor’s degree and had some time to work while she applied for graduate school. This was the perfect opportunity to move in together! So, in August 2015, Nicole packed up her belongings and move to the South to be with Jared! Eight months later Nicole was accepted to Temple University in Philadelphia, PA to pursue a master’s degree in Occupational Therapy. Jared also decided to pursue a degree, applied to schools in Pennsylvania and was accepted to Alvernia University in Reading, PA. In June 2016, Nicole moved back to Pennsylvania to begin her schooling but unfortunately Jared had three more months left of his contract in South Carolina so long distance it was again… thankfully this time for only 3 months! Since then, they have moved from Philadelphia to Pottstown and from Pottstown to Womelsdorf. Jared has recently earned his bachelors degrees and they are now happily together in Charleston, SC! After 9 years of knowing the existence of each other, 9 months of Jared asking Nicole to be his girlfriend, 1000+ days of living miles and miles apart, finally living together for 8 months then going back to being apart for a few more months, and moving from town to town…. on May 6, 2018, right back in the state they saw each other for the first-time face to face Jared said “I promised I would love you forever and I want forever to start now,” and got down on one knee.
