Our Story

Kody and Julie met in May of 2017 at their previous job at Booking.com. They didn’t start dating right away but instead cultivated a friendship. Julie had left Booking.com that following September but they remained in touch as they had the same work friend group and would still have group hangouts from time to time. It wasn’t until December of 2017, after getting the go from their mutual friend Leah, that Kody decided to ask Julie out on a date. On their first date, Kody picked up Julie in his sweet Jeep Wrangler and greeted her with a bouquet of flowers. They both then made their way to putt-putt, where Kody let Julie win, like any gentleman should. They then went to dinner at the Twisted Rooster (out of business now, considering the last time they went was 2 years ago). While at dinner they talked for hours and hardly ate their food (which was hard for Kody to do). After dinner, Kody drove Julie back home and dropped her off. Little did Julie know, Kody would be the man she would go on to marry. Kody on the other hand, knew they whole time. Kody and Julie then decided to buy a house together on the NW side of Grand Rapids and adopt a dog, naming him Jack. Kody and Julie have now lived in their house together for about a year and a couple months, with their two dogs, Geo and Jack. Geo and Jack keep Kody and Julie busy all the time and they even have their own little personalities, which is quite funny. The proposal, Julie had no idea. Kody and Julie went to a Whitecaps game in April of 2019 and Julie thought for sure Kody would do it there on a cloudy 50 degree night. Kody, meanwhile, was too focused on chasing down foul balls during the game to think about proposing. Kody had the proposal planned all along. Memorial weekend, Kody got down on one knee, at the end of the dock at his family's cottage on Lake Bellaire, and asked Julie to be his wife. Julie said "Yes!" and the rest is history.
