Their story began at Butler University at the beginning of their junior year, when Jamie moved into her new apartment, and Kody happened to be there with a helping hand. What started as a kind gesture turned into Sunday morning church and grocery runs, countless episodes of Brooklyn Nine-Nine, and Jamie successfully turning Kody into a ranch dressing fanatic. A few months later, over a sushi dinner (Kody's first ever!), he asked Jamie to be his girlfriend, and she said yes. They spent the rest of their junior and senior years together at BU, where Kody played football and Jamie swam. They showed up for each other's games and meets, cheering each other on whenever they could. They shared many Graeter's ice cream dates, walks through the Butler-Tarkington neighborhood dreaming about their future home, and cozy evenings just enjoying each other's company between classes and practices. After graduation, they began a new chapter. Kody started working in Indy at an economic development consulting firm, and Jamie headed to Purdue University for grad school in speech-language pathology. Though they have been in different cities for the last year, they stay close through weekend visits and lots of FaceTime calls. This past spring, Jamie's amazing friends helped Kody pull off the perfect proposal. Jamie had her suspicions that something was going on, so Kody and her friends planned a "girls day" to throw her off, visiting all of Jamie and Kody's favorite spots around Indy. The day ended at Newfields, where Kody was waiting with a ring and a big question. Jamie had lost her voice and may or may not have technically said yes...but the answer was clear!
