Looking for a gorgeous hike? Vanhook Falls is located in Daniel Boone National Forest, London, Kentucky. This Sheltowee Trace trek enters the primitive Cane Creek Wildlife Management Area, descending to beautiful Cane Creek with its large rock slabs perfect for picnicking or listening to the water flow. It then climbs north past Cane Creek to reach Van Hook Falls, which plummets into a sandstone cathedral. Along the way are rock formations, waterfalls, and sandstone bluffs, a truly beautiful parcel of the Bluegrass State. Outstanding Features: Van Hook Falls, rock slabs of Cane Creek, and other unnamed waterfalls. Park near the trailhead at the junction of KY-192 and KY-1193. The parking area is small, but not usually filled to capacity. Cross the road and hike north on Sheltowee Trace #100.
A must see! Imagine a wall of water falling 60 feet into a boulder-strewn gorge, a whispering mist that kisses the face and a magical moonbow visible on a clear night under a full moon. Known as the Niagara of the South, the 125-foot wide curtain of water is dramatic day or night. But it's only at night during a full moon that you can see the moonbow, a phenomenon not found anywhere else in the Western Hemisphere The Moonbow has the potential to be visible the week leading up to our wedding! The dates for visibility include Oct 18, 19, 20, 21, 22. (Note: the Moonbow is best seen when the weather is clear)
