It all started in August 2020, when Katie mustered up just enough courage to message the attractive blonde she had just matched with on Hinge (thank you, internet dating!). After a few days of radio silence, Sean finally replied—with a bold move: dinner? Katie arrived at the “restaurant” Sean had chosen, only to find herself parked in front of a hotel. Her first thought? Wow, this guy moves fast—booking a hotel for a first date! A quick check-in with a friend confirmed there was, in fact, a steakhouse inside, so she nervously walked in, hoping the guy from the app looked the same in real life. In true 2020 fashion, both showed up masked, which made recognizing each other a bit of a challenge. But with a mostly empty restaurant, it wasn’t hard to connect. The conversation flowed so effortlessly that hardly any food was eaten—and that first date set the tone for everything to come. From that night forward, we never went more than a few days without seeing each other. Fast forward two years, and we took a big leap—selling both of our homes and moving across the country to Texas. Being away from friends and family brought its own set of challenges, but it also taught us to lean on one another through life’s highs and lows. We grew stronger, both as individuals and as a couple. In May 2025, Katie was preparing for her third attempt at hiking Angels Landing in Zion National Park—a notoriously difficult climb. Sean, who had already conquered it once before, knew that reaching the top would be one of Katie’s proudest moments. So, he began planning to make it even more unforgettable. With just enough time to spare, the ring arrived—and off to Zion we went. The night before the hike, Katie slept soundly while Sean quietly rehearsed his proposal speech beside her, heart pounding with anticipation. On Friday, May 9th, we woke up early and made our way to the park. Katie was full of nerves, praying she’d finally reach the summit. And that day, it felt like every sign pointed toward success. With Sean’s constant encouragement, we made it—together—to the top of Angels Landing. Surrounded by breathtaking views, Katie asked for a photo to capture the moment. Sean asked a fellow hiker to take the picture… but secretly requested a video instead. Then, standing a little too close to the edge for comfort, he got down on one knee and asked Katie to spend forever with him. Amid cheers from strangers and tears in her eyes, she said “YES!” We are so grateful for the love and support we’ve received throughout our journey.
