Travel Note
Block Island is located 13 miles south off the coast of Rhode Island. By Ferry: The easiest way to get to the island is by ferry from Point Judith, Rhode Island or New London, Connecticut. There are also ferries with limited schedules from Newport, Rhode Island, and Montauk, New York (the Fall River ferry does not begin service until June 25th). The island is fairly manageable without a car, but if you are considering bringing one over, Point Judith is the only ferry offering car service (roundtrip service for cars is approximately $100 and reservations are competitive so be sure to book the first week in January if you want to bring a car) Note: Make sure you allot plenty of time to get down to Point Judith being cognizant of Boston and Providence traffic especially if weather is favorable ( beach traffic! ) https://www.blockislandferry.com https://www.goblockisland.com/ http://www.vikingfleet.com/vikingnews/templates/ferries.aspx?articleid=57 By Boat: Block Island has two harbors - Old Harbor is located on the East Side of the island near the town center and has limited space for dockage and anchoring through Old Harbor Dock. New Harbor is located on the West Side of the Island within Great Salt Pond. New Harbor has 100 town moorings and anchorage for 1000 yachts. Both Champlin's Marina and the Block Island Boat Basin are located in New Harbor. https://www.champlinsresort.com/marina/ https://blockislandboatbasin.net Block Island Harbors Department Contact Information Office Telephone: (401) 466-3204 Old harbor Dock: (401) 466-3235

Travel Note
The majority of the hotels, B&Bs and Apartments listed below are all within walking distance to town and beaches. For those planning on spending a long weekend, we encourage you to look into house rentals as the season will not yet be in full swing and accommodations will be more affordable (and week-long rentals may not yet be required). The island is "delightfully dated" - consider it part of the charm! Most hotels will not "release" all rooms online, so we highly recommend calling the hotels directly in order to book early. Many hotels have a 2 night minimum on weekends (we hope you'll consider coming Friday and making a weekend out of it!)

Travel Note
House rentals are a great option for large parties or those wanting to make a vacation out of the trip. There are several agencies you can work with on Block Island. Typically, rentals do not become available until January. In high season, houses are rented by the week, but late May is not typically considered high season and agencies will be open to long weekend rentals on a house-by-house basis.
