Simply because we couldn’t wait any longer! As a bonus, we thought it would add an extra touch of fun to our love story, especially to see our family and friends be surprised! We hope you don’t mind ;) Once we got engaged, we immediately started talking about eloping. Planning a wedding just isn’t in the cards quite yet. We want to take our time to plan and celebrate our dream wedding with all our favorite people in one place. So even though we are married, we saved a piece in our minds that it’s not quite official until we celebrate with everyone. We hope you’ll stay excited just as much as we are for a full wedding experience! P.S. We do not expect gifts at this time. The registry will be built closer to the official ceremony. 🤍
We chose to marry on the date we started our journey together in 2020. We wanted to always cherish this date as the start of our lives together in two very special ways. Plus, we will now HAVE to take at least two vacations a year to celebrate this one, and our future one.
The day started off like any other where I took an exam at school and Daniel headed to work. By 12, we hurried over to Mom's to get ready - quickly. Of course, being a Wednesday, traffic added some excitement to our day. Despite making it to the courthouse with time to spare, we soon discovered that chaos RSVP'd for the occasion! The courthouse closed at 5 pm sharp and Dad was stuck in the worst kind of traffic (where it doesn’t move and they make you get off the freeway). I kept my cool but on the inside, emotions were HIGH, to say the least. As a resolution, the judge graciously moved our ceremony outside to accommodate everyone. An elopement wouldn't be complete without a little thrill, right? We took pictures after, then went to have dinner at Postino WineCafe. The evening concluded with everyone going their separate ways, with Daniel and me staying at the Gila River Resort & Casino to get that “we-ran-away-to-Vegas-to-elope” sensation. This day made lifetime memories and it’s exciting to know that there’s more to come.
We met through Daniel’s sister-in-law, who was ultimately the mastermind behind it all. I have known her since I was in seventh grade, and she was my group mentor at church. She was getting married to Daniel's brother, and both I and the other girls from the church group were invited to their couples shower. She texted me the next day saying—and this is my favorite part—that Daniel thought I was the prettiest girl he’d ever seen! I wish I could say the same, but I didn’t see him at all. A while later, Daniel made the first move by “accidentally” direct messaging me a meme on Instagram, saying “oops wrong person”… I responded knowing that it was, in fact, not an accident. To my surprise, he lived in Nevada, and after being told he was planning on moving out to Arizona in a couple of months, we would spend the next 3 years doing long distance. I wouldn’t change the experience for the world, though. Our first official meeting was after only four days of texting, where we met halfway between us, in Kingman, Arizona. That first meeting in Kingman marks April 10, 2020.
