After months of quarantining at home Eric and I had been itching to get out of Orange County for a change of scenery and the opportunity to relax. After requesting a weekend off, Eric booked a cute Airbnb getaway for the two of us in Joshua Tree. The day prior to our departure my best friend asked if I'd like to get my nails done at our local salon which had just reopened with restrictions. Our minds jumped to guessing if after all this time he was going to propose?! Bags packed for a weekend of hiking in Joshua Tree National Park, soaking up the sun, and a possible proposal, we were off. Friday and Saturday went by with no ring and by Sunday I was reserved to the fact that it wasn't happening. While we drove home I thought of how much longer he was going to wait to pop the question. As I pulled into the garage Eric asked that I stay downstairs for a moment while he went in. My heart began to race with anticipation for what I thought was about to happen. After getting the green light I began to climb the stairs into our condo while John Legend filled the background. Flower petals guided me into our transformed living room, once filled with furniture now cleared and garnished with bouquets of sunflowers everywhere. My eyes filled with tears when they saw my friends Roxy and Lauren who had been colluding with Eric to make this moment possible. Eric took my hand and guided me to the center of the room before he dropped to one knee and asked me to be his wife.
