John Bryan State Park is distinguished by its remarkable limestone gorge. The gorge, a National Natural Landmark, offers hikers splendid views from the trail. A launch area outside the park provides paddlers with access to the river. Along with ten different hiking trails, including the popular Storybook Trail, the park has a public rock climbing and rappelling area and miles of mountain bike trails. Day-use visitors will enjoy the scenic picnic areas and playground.
Open from dawn to dusk daily. Parking is $10.00. Explore rustic trails, stone steps and wooden boardwalks past dense forests and slow moving streams. Be sure to visit the yellow spring, take a picture of the beaver dam, and marvel at the limestone cliffs found within. The Glen Helen trail system connects to John Bryan State park on its southern edge. Trails are predominately naturally packed earth so be prepared for mud in certain weather.
