our friends invited us out for a drink and we accepted (even though it was a school night). I was supposed to go to my friend Shannon's so I told my friend who invited me out that I could only come for ONE DRINK. I get there, say hello to everyone and meet the one person there I didn't know, Kyle. We're all having a good time, talking, sipping on beer and enjoying each other's laughter. People are ordering more beer but I notice Kyle doesn't and he says he's only had the one the whole time. And that impressed me; I liked that he wasn't drinking much (on a school night mind you). I'd dated guys who drank a lot and I wasn't going down that road again. Everyone decided to step out for a smoke and normally I'd join to be social but if you've noticed, it's December in Kansas, and it's freezing, so I definitely didn't want to stand outside and watch them smoke. So I asked Kyle if he smoked and was going outside, and told him I didn't smoke and was staying in if he wanted to stay inside with me. As you may have guessed, he stayed inside with me and we started chatting. It was effortless; he was so easy to talk to, and interesting too! Before we knew it our friends were back inside. Nicole approached us and quickly caught the vibe; Kyle and I were really hitting it off and Nicole sauntered away, leaving us to continue talking. We rejoined the group and soon the evening was coming to an end so we all said our goodbyes. The next morning I woke up thinking about him and the day after that he reached out to my friend Nicole to get the scoop on me. Once he cleared that I was single and ready to mingle, he got my number and reached out. I was thrilled! Butterflies were flying! A mere two days later we met up Friday night after I got off work. It was too late for dinner so we went for some fancy Applebee's appetizers. Everything just felt right. We went to Johnny's afterward to hang out with everyone else and it was a really good evening. I want to say after that day, we were inseparable. Nothing ever felt so easy and right. 7 years later nothing felt more easy or right than tying the knot!
