How We Met

You had me at "Hey"

In classic millennial fashion, it all started with a swipe. In our case, it was the Bumble dating app. Kevin will tell you that he seriously questioned responding to Kristen's concise and entrapping message of "Hey", but Kristen knew he was going to like her from the very beginning. After chatting on the app for a while, and swapping phone numbers, Kevin mustered up the courage to ask Kristen out, to which she replied "It's about time :)" Our first date was at Gordon Biersch in Rockville and it was only weeks later we realized we never actually got any food. After a long evening of banter, laughter and discovering our bizarre shared love of Alaskan Bush People, we decided we should end it before it got too late. Kevin walked Kristen to her car where he surprised her by sealing the date with a kiss. After that, we both knew there would be more dates in our future.

The Proposal

As told by Kevin

Let's start off by saying that fake proposing with a Ring Pop™ as a joke is not a good idea. (I have since learned that doing this multiple time is DEFINITELY not a good idea) THE FROPOSAL (fake proposal) The Froposal happened the Friday before Christmas. We had decided to stay in for a cozy night and after finishing off a bottle of prosecco, I looked Kristen in the eyes and knew it was time. I quickly got up and grabbed the ring from the kitchen. Now, I know what you're all thinking and the answer is Cherry. By the time I got back to the living room, I could barely contain by excitement. Before I could even pop the question, the wrapper began to crunch. As my smile got bigger, Kristen glared and said, "I swear to god that better not be a Ring Pop!" She then proceeded to wear the ring for the next 18 HOURS. THE PROPOSAL The next day was December 23rd and we had officially gotten passed the Froposal of 2018. That night, we were heading out for a date night dinner and Christmas light show. Our home was completely decked out for the holidays; the tree was full with ornaments, garland on the mantle and railings, and our stockings were hanging by the fireplace. Before we headed out, I had one last thing to do. As Kristen was grabbing her coat and putting on her shoe's to leave, I called her over to get a closer look at the tree. I wrapped my arm around her and we both took in the view. Seconds later, I reached into my pocket, turned around, got down on one knee. Before seeing the box, Kristen's response was, "this better not be another Ring Pop". It wasn't. I opened the box to a beautiful engagement ring and the look on Kristen's face was priceless with excitement. I asked, "Will you marry me?" to which Kristen replied, "Of course!" Naturally, dinner was delayed a bit, but that was the last thing on our minds. The rest of the Ring Pops... all 6 of them were given new homes.
