We met back in June 2015. After someone was 1 hour late for our first date, we still managed to have a dinner & movie date and enjoyed each other's company enough to hangout again the next day. While Kyle studied at UBC and I studied at UofT, we Skyped every single day and even slept with Skype on. Fast forward 8 years later, Kyle is now in San Francisco while I am in Vancouver. We now talk and video chat on Facebook Messenger every day and are planning to move in together by the end of the year
Kyle brought me to his home country, the Philippines, in November 2022. We went to El Nido and spent the first few days relaxing and island hopping. One day, Kyle asked if I wanted to go kayaking, and reluctantly I said yes because I didn’t want to get sunburnt. He took us to a very secluded beach that was only accessible by the sea. It was quiet, calm, and truly felt like paradise. We brought the drone so we could play around with it and take videos for a vacation vlog, or so I thought. As we recorded videos, he asked me to stand close to the water so he could test out of function on his drone. The drone circled around me and all of a sudden, he walked up with a ring box in his hand, got down onto one knee, and asked me to make him the happiest man in the world. Holding back the tears, because I didn’t want to ugly cry in the proposal video, I gently said yes.
