We matched on Hinge and started to hit it off right away. After a couple weeks of talking, we decided to go on our first date to Space Aliens in Fargo. It was here that we learned of our shared interests of many things, but also similar life goals. Taylor noticed Alex's humor and authenticity right away, while Alex appreciated Taylor's passion and dreams. After Space Aliens, we continued texting, going on dates, and getting to know each other better. Alex (finally) made it official on June 9, 2022, after spending the evening attending Rib Fest and a RedHawks game.
Iceland has always been a dream for Taylor to visit, while Alex has always wanted to see Ireland... so we decided why not do both?! We started in Iceland, and felt immediately in awe of the beautiful nature surrounding us. On the first full day, we went on a road trip around the Golden Circle, which has many waterfalls, geysirs, and includes the Eurasian tetonic plates... Taylor had heard of a waterfall called Bruarfoss off the typical beaten path of the Golden Circle with bright aqua blue water, and she knew it would be worth going to see. We took the bumpiest side road in a small car there. Once arriving at Bruarfoss entrance, we were met with about a ten minute walk to the falls, and which is when Alex started acting nervous. There were very few people there, so it was easy for us to take in the beauty that is Iceland. Alex then asked an older couple who spoke minimal English to take a picture... to which the couple happily agreed. They took the first picture and tried to hand the phone back to Alex, who waved his hand saying, "One more please?" Alex then got down on his knee and proposed on the slippery bridge. While not a surprise, emotions were certainly shared. Following the proposal, we really enjoyed the rest of our day in an "engagement bubble" and did not tell anyone until getting back to the hotel for the evening- telling only parents and siblings. We decided to continue enjoying each other and the amazing landscapes around, not telling anyone else. Though we were excited to share the news, we stayed in the "engagement bubble" until boarding the plane home and really got to soak up time as newly-engaged fiancees.
