Meeting/Dating

Hi!! Natalie here! In 2011, I went to my 6th year of Solid Rock Bible Camp at Camp Aldrich. I had gone as a camper for a couple of years and helped on staff for the past four. It was Jordan’s first year. Since I was a veteran counselor, Jordan was assigned to me for a Team Builder group. (Where we helped kids with Bible verses). That was the first time we ever met. I remember thinking he was cute, funny, loved Jesus, and the kids really liked him. However, he was off the market so that was that. 2014 Both Jordan and I had attended local community colleges, him in Great Bend and me in Colby. We both decided to transfer to Fort Hays State University. Jordan told me that he and one of his co-workers were going to drive back and forth to Hays on Tuesdays and Thursdays for classes to save on rent. I asked if I found a place in Great Bend, if I could get in on the traveling plan. I found a place, and we began traveling as a trio twice a week for school. And of course over time, Jordan and I got to know one another pretty well. 2015 I could no longer get my school schedule solely on Tues/Thurs, so rather than transferring mid-year to live in Hays, I moved back home and took more classes at Colby. During this semester Jordan and I would FaceTime periodically and keep in contact, but I didn’t know he was interested in me until late February. He mentioned the possibility of us dating and I ultimately said no because he was living in Great Bend and I was in Colby and I wasn’t interested in trying to make that work. (Silly girl) However, we remained close friends. The following semester, we both moved to Hays to continue our education at FHSU. As we spent more time together, I realized I would miss Jordan and the closeness of our relationship should either of us start dating other people...so I decided to pray and talk to him about us dating again in 2016. In August of 2016, Jordan and I started dating...and now he's going to tell you about the proposal! (:

Proposal

May 18, 2019

Hey everybody! Jordan here! By January/February of 2019, Natalie and I had been dating for over two and a half years. After much fervent prayer, I knew I was going to ask this loving, caring, truthful (sometimes painfully so), and God-fearing woman to be my wife. The only question remaining was … WHEN would I pop the question? :) Now Natalie and I are avid Dave Ramsey fans. By this time, we were nearing the completion of baby step 2 of paying off our debts. Natalie suggested we take a celebratory trip to go see her aunt and uncle who lived in Colorado Springs when we made our last payments. I thought this to be the perfect opportunity, but to ensure my excitement did not rise her suspicions, I agreed nonchalantly. Throughout the next few months, I went into planning mode. I took the few ideas of ring preferences my mom had tactfully pried from Natalie to find what I hoped to be the perfect ring. I also asked my to-be father-in-law for his daughter’s hand in marriage (not without Natalie almost spoiling it), and secretly made several phone calls and texts to Natalie’s aunt to plan what we thought would be a perfect proposal: Garden of the Gods at sunset. With our final debt payments made, the ring hidden in my suitcase, and an unsuspecting Natalie, we took off to Colorado Springs. After our first day of hiking, her aunt and uncle discretely planted the idea of us visiting Garden of the Gods around sunset the next day, which Natalie fully accepted! With the proposal looming, a relatively anxious Jordan was finding it harder and harder to act normal. ;) After nearly an hour at Garden of the Gods and frantically searching for the perfect backdrop before sunset, I casually tipped off her aunt to get the camera at the ready. With a beautiful view of Pikes Peak, and being surrounded by breathtaking rock formations, I got down on one knee and asked this beautiful woman to be my wife. SPOILER ALERT: She said yes!
