Allie: I remember the day I met Cody like it was yesterday. Some may not know this, but we did actually meet at work in May of 2014. I was hosting an event and Cody happened to come by. I remember thinking, " Oh he is cute!". The entire time he was at the event, I was trying to read his badge to find out what his name was. Ultimately, he received a free t-shirt. I was stumbling over my words when I asked Cody what size of t-shirt he would prefer, and he playfully asked what size I thought he needed. I then preceded to explain how I thought there should be a size between a small and a medium in t-shirts-- a schmedium. The look on Cody's face when I said that was priceless. He quickly walked away. HA! So I am not sure it was love at first sight, but at least he knew I could make him laugh! A month or so later, we went on our first date. I remember how easy it was to talk to him, even after having just met. After he dropped me off, I thought to myself, "I might kind of like this guy!". I knew right away something was different about Cody. I just had to wait a year for him to get on the same page ;). Fast forward to April 2015, Cody must have gotten tired of me texting and pestering him to hang out because he offered to help me move into my new apartment….and the rest is history!
Cody: After we had been dating for over six months I ran into a rough patch in life. It was very difficult on the both of us. I realized I loved her more than I could ever love any woman because I saw that she was willing to not just be there with me for the good times, but she would go head over heels with me over a cliff, not knowing if we would land with our feet on the ground or crash. I had never experienced that kind of unconditional love before. I credit Allie with teaching me so much about loving another. She stayed next to me in one of the toughest times in my life and I believe that was the time in which the thought of marriage started to grow. After getting through those times we bonded more than we could have ever.
Allie: December 28, 2016, a day we won't forget! My parents were visiting from Indiana and we had entire day planned with sightseeing. I should have known something was up from the beginning of the day. As we were getting dressed, both my mom and Cody were very opinionated as to what I was planning to wear for the day. I came downstairs after finally deciding on my outfit, only to find my mom ironing Cody and my Dad's shirts. Wait, WHAT? I went back upstairs to talk to Cody and we end up having a conversation about "when we get married". Cody plays it cool and tells me we probably won't be able to get engaged until March, and lists several reasons why. I'm satisfied with that answer and move on with the day. Our first stop was a tour of the Boeing Factory in Everett, WA. Cody seemed a bit off, but he said he was just tired. After the tour, we went to dinner with Cody's parents and mine at Palisade in Seattle. We arrived at the restaurant and our table wasn’t ready, so we headed over to the bar for a bit. Cody's mom led the way to pick a table. We sat all the way at the back of the bar, near the door to the patio and the server station. A strange pick, I thought. We were all chatting when Cody abruptly got up and went to the bathroom. When he came back, he asked me if I would like to go out on the patio. Cody knows I love to look at the Seattle city skyline, sunsets and the mountains, so I thought nothing of it when he asked me to go out there. Before I know it, Cody is on one knee and asking me to marry him. I am so caught up in the moment that I don't realize we have an audience. Cody points out all of his siblings, his parents, and my parents standing outside with us. My sister was even on FaceTime to see the whole thing as well! Cody knew I wanted an intimate moment between the two of us, but also wanted family involved. It was the perfect proposal!
