Our story begins 9 floors up at the University of Colorado Hospital. We won't bore you with all the details, but in short, Ashley came on board with UCH as a nurse in 2013 after completing college in Albuquerque. Matt was the unit's clinical pharmacist, a transplant from Iowa. We worked along side each other for years, both living out our own separate lives. We were nothing but nerdy coworkers sharing friendly banter, stories, and laughs alongside many others who were integral to our beginning (you know who you are!). It wasn't until 2017, when Ashley accepted a travel nurse position in Phoenix that everything changed. It turns out Ashley was one of Matt's favorite nurses and saying goodbye wasn't easy :) Numbers were exchanged, and a new kind of friendship blossomed from some 800 miles apart. After years of knowing each other, it was like meeting for the first time. A moment that took place in Phoenix, Arizona, when Matt flew out there to take Ashley on their first date. The rest is history ♥
What Ashley thought would be a quiet post-Christmas getaway in the snowy mountains of Steamboat, Colorado, turned out to be an early awakening to rush to the airport to jet set to the West Coast. Ocean Beach, CA held a special place in each of their hearts - Ashley with childhood vacations to the area and, for the both of them, their first vacation spot of their relationship back in 2017. After a day of enjoying the beach, breweries, and other local haunts, they boarded a sailboat in San Diego Harbor on the second day of their getaway. It was on a sailboat in San Diego in 2017 where they each confessed their love for each other. It only seemed fitting to make another milestone on a sailboat once again. Matt asked Ashley to marry him early into their cruise, and they sailed around happily in the Pacific Ocean the rest of the afternoon.
Bringing it back to where it all started! Phoenix is a special place to us, so planning a fall wedding at the lovely Venue at the Grove was the perfect destination for our dream wedding! We look forward to seeing you all there!
