Around 4 pm on April 2, 2018, Elizabeth walked into a kitchen—and her life would be forever changed. Was it the interesting music playing? Or the person she had just met? Probably both. That was the moment she met Matt, and the two instantly bonded over something truly unique: rock covers of Disney soundtrack music. They worked together in that kitchen on and off for the next two years—tag-teaming weddings, surviving dinner rushes, and enduring more than a few dreaded brunch services. Through it all, their friendship simmered (along with whatever was on the stove). In March 2020, Elizabeth came home from college in the midst of a global shutdown. The two of them accepted their fate of being in each other’s COVID bubble, and soon started spending time together outside of work. Elizabeth’s dad, Charles, gave Matt an extremely important mission: to keep her safe during their early-pandemic supply runs to Ace Endico. To this day, the couple jokes that Charles set them up. Their first official date was a hike to Cat Rocks, a favorite local trail (and part of the Appalachian Trail) in Pawling. After that, they were pretty much inseparable. Today, they share their lives with two very important additions: Jasper the cat and Rogue the dog, who add plenty of joy (and just enough chaos). With their wedding ahead, they’re excited for all the adventures the next chapter will bring.
