FAQs

From getting around St. Augustine to wedding weekend details, we know there may be a few questions. We've tried to answer some common questions here to help make your visit as smooth as possible!
Question

What should I wear & what shoes are best?

Answer

Our attire is formal. Think classic tuxes or suits for men and elegant dresses for women. Feel free to embrace fall colors! Please note that the downtown St. Augustine involves quite a bit of walking. Between walking from parking spaces to the venue or from the church to the reception space, there will be quite a lot of time walking. St. Augustine is all cobble stone streets. The reception venue will be on gravel/dirt ground. Because of this, we highly recommend no heels and rather flats or comfortable shoes so you can enjoy the night without sore feet (or sinking heels).

Question

What should I keep in mind for church attire?

Answer

Our ceremony will be held in a Catholic church, so we kindly ask guests to choose attire that is respectful of the setting. Dresses that show shoulders are perfectly fine, but we ask that guests avoid very low-cut styles or high slits. Thank you for helping us keep things respectful for the ceremony—just think classic formal wear and you’ll be perfect!

Question

Where should I park?

Answer

Parking in Downtown St. Augustine can be a little tricky, so we recommend planning ahead if you choose to drive. The main public garage is the Historic Downtown Parking Facility located at 1 Cordova Street. Parking is typically $20.00 per vehicle per entry during the day (7am–5pm) and $5.00 per entry during the evening (5pm–9pm). There is also metered street parking and city lots throughout downtown that cost about $2.50 per hour, with a 4-hour limit in most areas. Payment can be made at pay stations using cash or card, or through the ParkStAug mobile app. From the parking garage, it’s about a 10–12-minute walk to the ceremony at Cathedral Basilica. That said, we strongly recommend using UBER or another rideshare if possible!! Downtown parking can take time to find, especially with traffic and during peak season sometimes up to 45min-an hour. This way you can relax, be dropped off directly in front of the church, enjoy a drink, and get home safely without worrying about circling and finding parking.

Question

How far is the walk from The Cathedral to Colonial Oak? What if I struggle with walking?

Answer

The ceremony and reception are both located in downtown St. Augustine and are about a 10-minute walk from each other through the historic district - straight down St. George street. If you struggle with walking, we are going to have a golf cart waiting outside the church to take you to the oak easy breezy! The drivers name is lloyd, and he has 15 seats on his cart.

Question

Will transportation be provided from hotel?

Answer

No, please expect to uber / utilize ride share / drive to downtown historic district for ceremony and reception. If driving, please plan accordingly and expect approx. 45 minutes for parking detailed above.

Question

What will the weather be like?

Answer

Florida weather loves to keep us guessing! It’s usually warm during the day and cooler at night in St. Augustine, but shouldn't be cooler than low 70s. Downtown is also right on the water, so you do get a nice breeze. Our reception venue is all outdoors, if you think you'll be chilly bring a light layer for church AC and outdoor reception.

Question

Are you guys doing anything after?

Answer

We will probably change into something a little more comfortable and hang out downtown to get drinks after the wedding for anyone who wants to join. Most places close around 11 but there are a select few that stay open a little later we may hop around to.

Question

Do you have any plans for the weekend?

Answer

The wedding is on Friday and on Halloween weekend, therefore if anyone wants to stay for the weekend you're more than welcome to enjoy the beach with us and the area, otherwise we wish you safe travels home to enjoy the rest of your weekend and halloween!
