Months prior to our engagement, I had asked Klay to take me to the Texas Tulips in Pilot Point, TX. I have always loved fresh flowers, and wanted to take photos in one of the prettiest tulip farms that we had so close to us. We had decided on the weekend of spring break because this was said to be the best time of the tulips to bloom. Weeks leading up to the 18th, I was on the hunt for a dress that apparently did not exist. After exhausting almost all my efforts, I threw a purchase from Amazon in my bag and headed up to Frisco. Hours of hair and makeup ruined to a violent wind and cool breeze that had blown in to town. Klay might say otherwise, but I was trying to keep my cool from the wind that had knocked my hair completely flat and stay above ground in my heels that I had to wear for pictures. All the chaos of the moment became so still when I heard him whisper, “Alexandria Rachel Doucet, will you marry me?” Completely in shock and laughter I slid the ring on my finger without answering his question. It was a fairytale moment for sure. As we drove to my favorite restaurant to meet my family, nieces and nephew, and my very best friend, Klay asked, “So is that a yes?” Even though I thought it was a given, there on that car ride I said yes to the man I cannot wait to spend the rest of my life with. God has been so good to me, and I’m thankful for this blessing He has gifted me here on this earth named Klay.
