We met at the one and only Bourbon Cowboy in Emporia, Kansas. There was always a spark between us, and I (Sasha) encouraged that spark with many "free" Miller Lites. However, the timing was simply off, and we both went our separate ways until many years later. I was working as a teacher and part-time at the Bourbon Cowboy when Jonathan happened to be doing a walk-through of the bar as a police officer. We met up for drinks that week, and the rest, as they say, is history!
While Jonathan was in Virginia for military training, I was lucky enough to visit him twice! The second visit, though, Jonathan had a lovely weekend planned which included the exact question that will bring us all together in May! The day before he proposed, we spent the day getting tattoos, and had dinner with some of Jonathan's army buddies. Then, we stayed the night at this amazing treehouse Airbnb on a "farm" in the middle of town. I wanted a little adventure and was always trying to make our time together special. Little did I know Jonathan had something even more special in store. The next day, we prepared to visit a Japanese garden I was dying to see. When we arrived at the gardens, it started to rain pretty hard, which did not deter me at all because rain is my second love language! Rain still at a down pour I wasn't sure how the day was going to get any better, when we arrived at a spot without people around! As I turned to leave, Jonathan knelt down and asked me to marry him! The best part? Well, okay aside from the rain? Jonathan had arranged for a friend from training, who happened to be a professional photographer, to capture the one of the best moments of our lives.
