Our Story

(or how a teacher, a single mom, and two wild little boys accidentally built a life together)

Once upon a time (okay, it was 2022), two people living just three miles apart somehow managed to completely miss each other, until the magical powers of the internet stepped in. Enter: one tired single mom of two energetic boys (ages 4 and 5) and one adventurous teacher on a countdown to his big move out of state. Neither of us knew quite what we were getting into. Sheldon was planning to move to Utah in seven months. I (Kjerstin) was wrangling kids, working, and definitely not planning to fall in love. But the universe (and maybe a well-written dating profile) had other plans. We clicked. Fast. It felt easy, natural. Like we’d finally found what we didn’t even realize we were missing. We were pretty inseparable from the beginning. We laughed a lot, drank probably too much coffee, and juggled bedtime chaos like a mini team. When the school year ended that year, Sheldon made his move to Utah to follow a lifelong dream of teaching there, and we began the rollercoaster of a long-distance relationship. It wasn’t always easy (okay, it was never really easy), but somehow we always knew we were in it for the long haul. Eventually, Sheldon moved back home, and we started life together. Not just as a couple, but as a family. He didn’t just step into my life, he jumped in with both feet, Nerf guns blazing, and became “Dad” to my two boys. This past April, we added one more wild little human to our crew with the birth of our baby boy, officially completing our chaotic, beautiful little family. Getting married feels like the natural next step, but also a big, joyful, confetti-cannon-level celebration of everything we’ve built together. This day isn’t just about vows or rings. It’s about the wild, wonderful ride that brought us here and the lifetime of love, chaos, and laughter still ahead. We can’t wait to celebrate with you! With love and probably someone’s snack in our pockets, Kjerstin & Sheldon
