We were both architecture students at UDM. She was just finishing her second year while I was finishing my third year. After a long week of studio critiques, a few of us went out to celebrate with some Mexican food and then continued the celebration back at the architecture school. The funny thing is we didn't really talk much that day. Yeah we exchanged a few glances, had a few drinks, shared a few laughs, but that was it. Or at least that's what I thought because after that day, my heart had already made up its mind. It was only a matter of time.
While he was "flying to South Dakota for work," he'd planned a scavenger hunt of our favorite spots in and around Detroit. Each clue led to a different memorable place, a friend with another clue, and a letter to spell out the final destination. After driving for miles, exchanging a few memories, and a couple of outfit changes, I found him at Oudolf Garden on Belle Isle. The rest is history.
