Our Story

0 To 100 Real Quick

This is the story of how Alex met Katy. Both natives to Nebraska, these two were never far away from eventually finding a home for their hearts. Katy was raised in Blair and spent her time growing up with 3 younger sisters, leading the way as the oldest sibling. Alex had a similar story of being the oldest sibling to a younger twin brother and sister in the big brother city of Omaha. For a couple of decades these two had crossed paths throughout the area but never quite intersected. As the years went on the distance, unknown to them, would increase and decrease until most recently when their paths and connections became more intertwined. But as the time spent longing for that special someone to complement each other in a lifelong committed relationship, we both turned to tactics more direct than traditional methods. Through the use of newer technology (Bumble Dating App) they were able to narrow their focus for someone who had shared desires and beliefs. Prior to the first date, these two shared stories and interests, which started to develop what would become a deep connection. For their first date, after going back and forth with favorite local spots they decided to meet up on June 6th, 2019 to enjoy some tacos from California Taco. This date didn't stop there, despite staying well past close. They continued on to the Flight Deck bar right down the road to continue getting to know one another. Speaking about a lot of life and friends, both started to wonder if this could really be the person each had been searching and praying for all along. The dates continued and the countless introductions followed, along with comments about a future marriage since they both were dating with the intent of marriage. As the pair spent more time together and with friends, it was easy to see that they had found their lifelong helper. Alex showed genuine interest in Katy's heart for mission and Katy helped Alex with all of his projects.

The Proposal

Colorado or Bust...

After talking about marriage in the somewhat near future, Alex invited Katy on a ski trip with his friends to Colorado over Christmas break. Despite Alex confirming multiple times that he would not propose on the trip, Katy assumed that's what would happen. In October Alex joined Katy and her family to Skinny Bones Pumpkin patch, where Alex asked Katy's mom for her permission to marry Katy. Katy's sisters Kerri and Mikayla helped Alex out by distracting Katy. Busy with her Master's degree and his CPA exam, the conversations about a near-future engagement quieted down. Alex knew Katy wanted her best friend Kali to know about the proposal, so Alex had her set up lunch plans the Saturday before Christmas since Kali and her boyfriend couldn't attend a party later on that evening. Alex and Katy were running a few minutes behind and as they approached Midtown Crossing, Alex 'missed' his turn and had to take the long way into the center to park. Even weirder, Alex parked at the very top of the center not close to the restaurant, stating that he wanted to admire the American flag. Katy was rushing Alex to get into the restaurant since they were late, and that's when Alex said that it was a perfect moment for an impromptu speech. He told Katy that he loved her heart for God and loved watching her grow closer to Him as they had grown closer to each other, and then asked her to marry him...and she said yes!
