How We Met

12-7-2016

We met at a trivia night at Fossil Cove in Fayetteville. We have friends that happened to be co-workers, so we were all on the same team, but I did not think much of it at the time. As the night went on, I would hear some of the comments Grant would make and just laugh, which he's really good at doing. We talked for a brief time and I just remember thinking that he was definitely not what I was expecting--he's so friendly, easy to talk to, and hilarious! Right before we left, he said he would find me on Facebook, but never asked for my number and I thought that was the end of it. A few weeks later, on Christmas Eve 2016, he messaged me and stated, "Facebook Official. Just like I promised" and the rest is history.

How I knew he was the one.

Grant is totally the opposite of anything I imagined when I thought about "the one," but everything I was looking for! He's so funny, completely honest, life of the party, and tall, VERY tall. Believe it or not, it was after our third date I said I could see myself with him. I was setting up two friends on a blind date which turned into a blind date-double date. I thought if I asked him to go with me, he would have totally thought I was some crazy person with such request, but he was so wonderful the whole night! He was so engaging, asking my friends questions about themselves to lighten the mood and was completely lovable. After then, I thought I could see myself falling for him fast, very fast. On the drive home, he told me to remember this night. Looking back, I knew he felt the same way.

The proposal!

9-7-18

Grant was SO good at keeping the proposal a secret, which is not too difficult because I'm easily surprised! He told me that his parents were coming into town and he made dinner plans for that night. A friend of mine just happened to be to town that day, so I left work early and we grabbed coffee and I was late meeting him. I could tell he was a little anxious, but I thought he just liked to be extremely prompt. He asked if we could run by Mount Sequoyah to check out a house his Mom was interested in. We ended up parking by the Big Cross and checked out the storm starting to make its way into Fayetteviille. Before I even knew what was happening, I could hear Grant saying, "You know I love you, right? at which time I replied with a “yes.” He starting dropping down which I thought he might have fallen, but he bent down on one knee with a bright red box in his hand saying, "Will you marry me?" I didn't know how respond except with "are you joking!?" over and over. I finally came to my senses and said "Yes!" Afterwards, we headed back to his house where we were greeted by family and friends! Best. Night. Ever.
