We met at our church in Parkland, Washington. We had known each other for a couple of years before we started dating. We both served on our worship team (Katie as a vocalist and Calyn in tech). The first time I ever saw Calyn, we were at Worship rehearsal. Calyn was doing his thing at the sound board, mixing audio, and I was on stage doing a sound check. I was singing with one of my friends on the team and I immediately noticed the handsome guy in the back of the auditorium. I turned to my friend and whispered "He's so cute!" with all the giggles. Little did I know, Calyn saw the whole interaction, but didn't tell me until after we were dating, which, I am honestly grateful for. Had I known he saw that, I might've died of embarrassment. We both had had a crush on each other for about two years prior to dating, but because we served at different campuses of our church, we didn't see each other often. By divine intervention and absolutely perfect timing, after a Sunday service, Calyn got the courage to text me, and we started talking. On October 28, 2017 we had our first date, and have been inseparable since. In every way imaginable he and I balance each other out. He's very logical, and thinks things through. I am much more of a free spirit, and leap before looking. We bring out the best in each other because we each bring a different perspective to our relationship. We've learned and grown so much in the almost three years we have been together. We are so excited to be marrying each other because we know we get to spend the rest of our lives with our best friend. We are looking forward to starting this next chapter in our lives, and writing the rest of our love story together. <3

I had been planning for months to surprise Katie with the proposal. I only told a select few to ensure that Katie wouldn't be suspicious. In April 2019, we drove to Shane Co. to get Katie's necklace cleaned. I had suggested that we also look at engagement rings as the plan was starting to come together. We had a sweet date of looking at engagement rings before settling on "the one". Katie had no idea when the proposal was coming, but both of us were excited about what was to come just a couple weeks later. On May 8, 2019, during our vacation to Orlando, Florida, we had just watched the romantic story and firework show about dreams coming true and living happily ever after. That's when Calyn's sister suggested we take one more picture. Katie is always ready to take a picture, so she had no idea what was about to happen. In that moment, I pulled Katie aside, had a speech about how I wanted to live happily ever after with her and make all her dreams come true. I then got down on one knee and proposed to Katie in front of the Disney castle at Magic Kingdom. In that moment, it was like we were the only two people there. We were so fortunate enough to share a sweet tender moment together. Without hesitation, Katie SCREAMED "YES". It truly felt like a fairytale. We had people clapping and cheering us on. There was even a sweet woman who came up to us and made firework noises with her mouth. That day we became the happiest couple at the happiest place on Earth! We got to say yes to spending the rest of our lives together, and we couldn't be more excited!
