DANCE WITH ME

THE FIRST FEW DATES

We first met on a dating app, and Jordan sent the first message. It took Veronica about five days to respond. The hesitation to respond came from one of his photographs. He was wearing a Cowboys jersey. She is from the Houston area, and you just don't support the Cowboys, if you're a true "Houstonian". This isn't 1995. *coughs* After a few days, the interest was there, and she returned the message to the cute guy, with the really great beard and odd sense of humor. This was the start of something great. We talked on the phone for a few days. (Yeah, we're old school) On our date(s) we talked about the things we had in common: Love of Domestic & Foreign Policy, Linguistics, Metaphysics, Astronomy & whose music collection was the most extensive. SHE WON THAT FIGHT!!! It was then, at the end of one of these dates & in the smallest of cafes, he asked for a dance. This came as a surprise, because the cafe can only seat 15 people. Then, we both realized - there's more to the other than what met the eye. We were almost walking contradictions.... Veronica is actually quite shy in public settings, but she loves public speaking. Jordan, if you've met him, then you know... Lets cut to the chase - Was there a dance? NO! More dates still followed.

I'LL SLEEP ON A COT FOR YOU

THE ENGAGEMENT

We’re at the airport and going on a “Birthday Trip” to Chicago. Jordan walks through airport security, and he’s stopped. I simply noticed a nod to a security officer. I thought nothing of this. As we waited for our flight to be called, we noticed "ALL FLIGHTS ARE BEING DELAYED OR CANCELED". We waited it out, and we slept on a cot. A six hour delay and two hour flight later - we land! The next day, 4 hours truly, we immediately go to Grant Park and Millennium Park to take in the sights & listen to some music. While listening to music, we take a seat. Jordan begins to crouch down and tells me about the things we share. I am OBLIVIOUS to what’s going on, because we’re normally super romantic. We are always singing love & sweetness to the other. I was more worried about someone being sick than thinking of an engagement. Once the words, “I love you” & “be together forever” came out – that was it. The engagement alarms went off. Once asked, I exclaimed, "yes". There was no hesitation. *The nod to the security officer* Jordan didn't want to lose the ring, so he kept it on him. Jordan was selected for additional monitoring, thus he had to take EVERYTHING OUT of his bag. Yes, the ring included. The nod was simply a, "Congrats" - unbeknownst at that time.

TO BE ON THE SAFE SIDE

With our wedding happening during a pandemic - we are requiring all guests to have either their COVID-19 vaccines OR have a NEGATIVE COVID-19 test done two days prior to our wedding. Yes, in some areas, this may mean you're paying for a rapid results test. As for the wedding day, we are making most of our 10,000 sq. ft. venue. As well, temperature checks, masks, socially distanced seating arrangements, and a personal wait staff will be there to ensure you're safe.
