Capricorn Sound Studios and Museum is a multi-purpose music venue in downtown Macon whose mission is to leverage Macon’s music heritage to create Macon’s music future. Capricorn Museum is the place to experience the interpretive component of Mercer Music at Capricorn informs and engages the Macon community and attracts visitors from around the world through digital, visual, and audio storytelling. At the heart of the 1,200-square-foot museum is an interactive listening station where visitors can sample the Capricorn Records catalog. The museum also features a retail store where fans can stock up on Capricorn-themed merchandise.

The Allman Brothers Band Museum at The Big House

The Big House is located at 2321 Vineville Avenue, Macon, GA. In 1969 it was for rent, and by January 1970, it became the house where members of the band, their roadies, friends and families lived until 1973. It was the focal point of gathering in those early years when the magic that is the Allman Brothers Band was just taking shape and radiating from this historic Southern town.

Georgia Sports Hall of Fame

The Georgia Sports Hall of Fame is one of the country’s largest state sports museum at 43,000 square feet. Created in 1956 as the Georgia Prep Sports Hall of Fame, the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame has been in existence for more than 50 years. It was expanded in 1963 to encompass prep, college, amateur, and professional sports. In 1999, it moved into a permanent new home in Macon.

The Tubman Museum is the largest museum in the nation dedicated to educating people about the Art, History and Culture of African Americans. Amerson River Park

Amerson River Park contains 180 acres of pristine forests, meadows, and wetlands surrounded by a river oxbow. The park boasts several high bluffs that provide beautiful views of the river and its banks. Come play on the state-of-the-art handicap-usable playground where all children, regardless of physical ability, can enjoy swings, slides, and other playground equipment. Walk, ride, or run the seven miles of trails throughout the park. Enjoy the Ocmulgee River on a kayak, sitting in a canoe, or floating in a tube. At the north end of the Park, there is a canoe launch on the Ocmulgee River. Enjoy a 2-mile tubing float from the Jay Hall Memorial Canoe Launch to the Bragg Jam Canoe and Tube Takeout. The Park offers exciting amenities that families, adventurous outdoorsmen, and nature lovers will enjoy.
