We're Getting Married!

The couple first met on Cinco De Mayo 2012, during Kirstie's first weekend in Raleigh, NC. After that, the two saw each other out and about throughout the summer. The first time the two hung out on their own was at a Jason Mraz concert in August later that year. Daniel had won two tickets to the show and needed someone to go with. Kirstie, not being able to pass up a free concert, went along! The two hit it off and became fast friends, hanging out most days of the week and traveling with friends on the weekends. Daniel started liking Kirstie and bravely shared his feelings, which were not originally reciprocated. However, they remained friends and continued to enjoy the time they spent together. Daniel continued to show how much Kirstie meant to him by cooking dinner together, learning a song for her on guitar, showing her the great views in Boone, and being there as a true friend. The couple went on their first "official" date in November to a nice dinner and Trans-Siberian Orchestra.

The couple was going on an annual trip with friends to Ocean City, MD on the weekend of Kirstie's 30th birthday. Daniel planned to have Kirstie's best friends show up to surprise her and throw her off the scent of a long awaited proposal. Kirstie was completely blindsided when four of her friends travelled all the way from NY just to be with her on her birthday weekend. Before the group of friends went out to a favorite beach club for the night, Daniel arranged a group picture. After everyone was arranged for the picture, Daniel asked Kirstie if she was ready for one more surprise. Daniel got down on one knee and asked Kirstie to marry him. After crying for approximately five minutes, Kirstie said 'Yes'!
