BEFORE YOU GO: Do I need a passport to go to the Dominican Republic?

Answer

YES! You must have a passport - Technically your passport only needs to be valid for the period of the visit BUT we recommend that your passport should be valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry into the DR

BEFORE YOU GO: How do I get/renew my passport?

Answer

- If you have never gotten a passport OR your passport was issued more than 15 years ago, you can apply in person for a new passport - If your passport was issued within the last 15 years and you still have it (but it's expired) then you can renew by mail - Here is the link to all info about passports! https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/passports.html **Be sure to apply or renew ASAP as it takes a good month or more to get your passport

BEFORE YOU GO: How do I book my room, flights, and transportation?

Answer

-All resort rooms will be booked through our travel agent. That means we get a group rate (yay!) Below is the link to the website where you will book your room. https://www.classicvacations.com/gr/bennett Invitation Code: Welcome - You can book your flight yourself. That way you can use points or any airline you please. Our travel agent will reach out to you after you book your room, closer to the date of the wedding to get your flight information. If you would like help in booking your flights, please contact our travel agent. - You do not need to book transportation from the airport to the resort. Our travel agent will reach out to you when we get closer to the date of the wedding to get the transportation booked and scheduled. The resort is only a 15 minute shuttle ride away

BEFORE YOU GO: What will the weather be like?

Answer

In October the DR has average highs of 88 degrees and average lows of 74 degrees. It will be the end of the rainy season, so possibility of rain, with long stretches of sunshine

BEFORE YOU GO: Will I be able to use American Dollars? Should I bring cash?

Answer

Yes, most people and places will accept American Dollars. It is a good idea to bring a bit of cash with you in case you would like to buy something or tip at the resort. It's also good to take note that the resort accepts Visa, Master Card, and American Express

BEFORE YOU GO: What happens if there is a hurricane when we are supposed to go?

Answer

If a hurricane occurs or is scheduled to hit on our wedding day, we will most likely have to reschedule. You will be able to buy travel insurance through our travel agent if you would like so that you can be covered if something happens and we cannot go.

THE RESORT: Are children allowed?

Answer

Unfortunately no. Sanctuary is an Adults Only All Inclusive resort. You must be 18 and over to stay

THE RESORT: What exactly does All-Inclusive mean? What is included?

Answer

Just about everything! You can drink and eat as much as you want while at the resort. There is also 24 hour room service. There are daily/nightly activities and entertainment as well! The only reason you would need to pay for something is if you would like to book a service at the spa, drink a super high end alcohol, or dine/shop at the resort store or the "Sanctuary Town" on the resort premises.

THE RESORT: Will I need certain attire for the resort/certain restaurants?

THE WEDDING: What should I wear?

Answer

Think "Tropical Dressy Casual". We will be outside, and it will be warm. For women think nice sundresses or midi dresses with dress sandals or wedges. For men think nice khaki pants or light dress pants if you like and a nice short sleeve button down or collared shirt. No tie necessary!

THE WEDDING: Should I bring a gift for the Bride and Groom?

- Not necessary! Just bring yourself! Being with us at the resort is all the gift we want from you.

THE WEDDING: Your wedding takes place on Halloween.... does that mean it will be themed?

Answer

Nope. As much as we both love Halloween and watching ghost shows, the wedding will not be themed. (Unless you count the beach theme) October 31st just happened to be the perfect date for when we wanted our wedding.

TIPS FROM THE BRIDE

Answer

- DON'T GET SUNBURNT. Remember, the sun will be hotter in the DR and even if you are used to tanning, you can still burn. So try to use sunscreen, and if you have fair skin (like me) try to stay in the shade and think about bringing UPF shirts and clothing for in the pool when you're tired of sunscreen (trust me, it's a life saver) And bring any aloe you like with you if you're prone to burning! - Drink plenty of water! It's all inclusive so drink as much alcohol (or non-alcohol) as you'd like! But remember to drink plenty of water as well! It will probably be VERY warm outside, and definitely warmer than most are used to, so try to stay hydrated

TIPS FROM THE GROOM

- Don't. Burn. A. Hole. In. Your. Wedding. Attire. Be sure to check any ironing labels on your clothes before trying to iron or press them yourselves. (If you're not careful, you may ruin your outfit). And when in doubt, ask a mom! Helena (MOB) or Wendy (MOG) - Remember to double check that you pack all necessary clothes for the wedding and the different restaurants at the resort. You don't want to have to wear the same pair of pants every night for dinner
