We first met at the airport on a school trip to the UK in January, 2014, during Chicago’s historic polar vortex. Ty first noticed me as the girl who foolishly took sleeping pills shortly before we were removed from our first plane due to mechanical issues and had to be dragged through the airport to a hotel. I first noticed Ty as the guy who ordered a burger at a pancake café the next morning. On our second night in London we stayed up all night in the hotel lobby with a few friends, playing Uno and telling silly stories, and that’s when we really became friends. A few days later on a bus ride across Scotland, I woke up to Ty putting his arm around me, and that could only mean one thing...he liked me! By the time we were back home in Chicago, we both knew there was something there, and we’ve been together ever since. Go check out our photo page to see the first photo taken of us!
Our mutual love of fashion and photography has grown over the last year into a favorite past time of spontaneous photo shoots. I got a cute new outfit? Ty found a cool location? Time to get the camera and go! So when I found a great new jumpsuit, Ty saw his opportunity and ran with it. We drove down to Oak Park on a Monday and shot around a couple locations. At the end of the shoot, Ty set me up for one last shot with my back to him. Like any true professional, I was focused on my modeling gig and suspected nothing. Then he said, “Hey Kirsten,” and I turned to look at him because something in his tone of voice sounded...weird. I turned and saw him on one knee. He asked me, “Will you marry me?” and I said, “Yes!”
