If you've never been to Puerto Vallarta, you are in for a treat. This old port town dating back to the 1700's has kept its old town feel, with small cobblestone streets and wonderful restaurants and shops at every turn. The Bay of Banderas, one of the deepest in the world, attracts a huge array of wildlife, including the seasonal migration of the humpback whales. With the wonderful vistas created by the jungle mountains rising straight out of the water, you can find beautiful views wherever you venture. Popular nearby sandy beaches are Conchas Chinas beach, a few minutes down the road from Hotel Playa Fiesta, Los Muertos Beach in town and charming Yelapa, accessable only by water taxi.
Fly into Puerto Vallarta International Airport (PVR). The airport is right in town and an easy taxi to and from wherever you are!
Taxis are the quickest and most economical way around Vallarta. From the airport, be sure to walk all the way outside of the building before stopping to find a taxi. All of the people that you will encounter after deplaning and before exiting the airport are extremely aggressive salespeople. Avoid talking to or making eye contact with this crowd, you will save yourself time and stress. From the hotels, taxis can be found right outside the hotel, or one can be called for you. You can expect to pay about $20 USD per person for a taxi ride from the airport to either Hotel Playa Fiesta or Hotel Costa Sur.
