Teammates for Life

Everyone knows it's a bad idea to date your teammate. But everyone also knows that some things are simply inevitable. For us, that started the first morning we climbed into the judging van at Connors State College. We were both a few days late arriving on campus, so everyone else already knew each other. Despite being the newcomers, we became fast friends almost immediately. Our shared backgrounds, competitive spirits, and love for livestock judging gave us plenty to talk about and plenty of reasons to spend time together. While we thought we were doing a pretty good job of just being friends, everyone around us seemed to know there was something more going on. Before long, they were right. What began as a friendship grew into something much deeper, and we spent our time at Connors side by side, making memories that would shape the rest of our lives. When it came time to transfer to a senior college, it seemed our paths might lead us in different directions. But through a little chance and a lot of the Lord's guidance, we both independently chose the University of Nebraska. There, we were fortunate enough to spend two more incredible years judging livestock together, growing not only as teammates but as a couple. At the end of our final judging season, surrounded by our teammates and closest friends during team pictures, Caden got down on one knee and asked the question that felt years in the making. We said yes to forever in a place and among people who had been part of our story from the very beginning, and we can't wait to celebrate the next chapter with all of you.
