Andrew first laid eyes on Kirsten at his brother’s high school graduation party. A facebook friend request and a few fb messages later, the two set to meet up at the local ice cream parlor (Arties Ice Cream). The two of them enjoyed their ice cream and small talk and they each went their separate ways. Kirsten was then accepted into James Madison University, where Andrew had been attending for his undergrad. GO DUKES! With both of them now at JMU, the two of them started hanging out frequently. It wasn’t long until the two of them became inseparable. On 10-10-10, Kirsten and Andrew made it facebook official! “Andrew Matsunaga is now in a relationship with Kirsten Fry”. Building their relationship with dates at D-Hall, E-Hall, and the local Harrisonburg Chipotle, before they knew it, Andrew HAD to graduate from JMU. Returning back to his hometown of Clarksville, MD, Andrew put his degree to use and entered the working world. With Andrew back home in MD and Kirsten finishing her undergrad in VA, Kirsten and Andrew were now faced with the daunting “long distance relationship”. They both knew it was going to be difficult, but the two of them were determined to make it work. Three long years passed, Kirsten graduates from JMU to move back home to pursue her Doctorate in Physical Therapy at UMD. Now they've finally reunited in the “Greatest City in America”, Baltimore, MD. Andrew was working (and sometimes partying) and Kirsten was studying relentlessly to become a doctor! Another long three years passed, and Kirsten becomes DR. Kirsten! The two of them decide to move out of the city and into the suburbs of Ellicott City. As they continue to grow together, Andrew decides that it is time to ask Kirsten if she would spend the rest of her life with him. He comes up with a plan to try and surprise Kirsten with a proposal on his 30th birthday. Andrew figured, “how could she say no??” So on his 30th birthday, 9-6-18, Andrew proposes and Kirsten said, "Yes!"

Andrew tells Kirsten he has made reservations at Sagamore Pendry, in Fells Point, party of 2. He knows he has to get to the restaurant early in order to pull off his elaborate surprise proposal. What Kirsten did not know, is that Andrew had reached out to one of his good friends, Katie, to set up a fake photoshoot at the Sagamore Pendry and that they would “coincidentally” run into each other and be asked to be a part of. So then they arrived at the restaurant and the host tells them the table isn't ready and hints for us to go walk out back to see the view. Andrew and Kirsten just so happen to run into Katie who asks them to be a part of her photoshoot. Andrew, quick to say, “why not?”, had agreed that they were already dressed for the occasion and would look good in the background of the photoshoot! The photoshoot begins and a few minutes later, Andrew musters up the courage to get down on one knee. He anxiously stumbles on his words as he reaches into his coat pocket, pulls out the ring, looks into Kirstens eyes and is able to muster the words “Kirsten Maria Fry, will you marry me?” Everything goes silent. Andrew’s heart starts beating faster and faster and his eyes start to well up. He isn’t sure if it’s from the anticipation of having all the happiness in the world or from the pain of kneeling on his recently repaired ACL… Kirsten takes a deep breath as she brings her hands up to her face in excitement and finally says, “YES!” Andrew puts the ring on her finger and stands up to hug her in excitement! Andrew then quickly waves over to his family and Kirstens family who he had hid around the corner so that they could witness the proposal! Both families came out to greet them and shared in their excitement! After some pictures, Kirsten, Andrew, and their families all headed back into the restaurant for their dinner reservation. Unbeknownst to Kirsten, the two of them were then surprised by some of their closest friends who were there to help celebrate!
