How We Met

Kirk and Diana were brought together by mutual friends Weston Newman (Kirk’s college best friend and post grad roommate) and Hala Bowen (Diana’s Tulane KKG sorority sister). Hala and Weston first tried multiple attempts of organizing a blind date, but Kirk and Diana were both very stubborn about that idea. So they finally let Hala set up a group Happy Hour. At the Happy Hour Diana and Kirk immediately bonded over one sport…golf! Kirk was taken by surprise when the petite brunette sitting across the table from him recognized the Ryder Cup emblem on his shirt. He couldn’t believe Diana even knew about the golf tournament. At least half of Kirk’s own friends had no clue about the upcoming USA vs. Europe match. When Diana asked if he planned to go to Minnesota for the tournament, he became intrigued. He was in fact looking forward to attending the Ryder Cup since his uncle was a member of the hosting golf club. But the tournament was months away—not on anyone’s radar. (Later on Kirk did end up inviting Diana to accompany him to Minnesota) Although Ryder Cup jumpstarted that Happy Hour conversation, the Kirk/Diana relationship took off from there. Kirk knew he had to see Diana again…as soon as possible. So Kirk and Hala organized a gathering for the very next night which was a Friday, making sure that Diana would be there. For Diana, although the Ryder Cup emblem caught her eye, so had Kirk—and very soon thereafter he had her heart. For Kirk, their connection continued to blossom on that Friday night. And later when Kirk and Diana found themselves together in his apartment’s elevator saying their goodbyes, he asked for her number. From that moment on, they haven’t gone a day without talking to each other.
