As everyone knows, Danielle is an introvert and homebody. That weekend she had social outings planned with friends and I knew that by the time proposal day rolled around, she would just want to be in the house and unbothered. TOO BAD!! Because she was getting proposed to on February 23rd period. I had a mutual friend shoot a group chat to her for a nice dinner (thinking that would encourage her to dress up) but of course in Danielle fashion she responded "Honestly, I just want to sit in the house and be unbothered (told you) and if I go anywhere, I don't want to do more than put on my Xavier sweatshirt". Though she was admonished by our friend, she didn’t back down. So I jumped in and said "Y’all I'm just leaving the Morgan bookstore and have my Morgan Paraphernalia for dinner on Sunday". Unbeknownst to Danielle, I had planned for her friend to come in town and for our closest friends to be there when I proposed. I just needed her to be ON TIME. She was not. So I spent time circling the park where I was going to propose so that she wouldn't see her friends. Intermission: Danielle here lol, I was like what is going on because he was SUPER pressed about getting to the park on time. Like why must we be on time to go walking??? I also saw a text come through from my friend Alecia. I dismissed it but I was like umm what is the deal? Okay, Kirk can now finish our proposal story So, like I was saying, I was driving around the park and trying to think of how to pop the question. I walked her to the pier, she saw her friends and was super confused. So I turned to her and said “Danielle, I have a question for you, Will you marry me?” She said, “Yes, lets get it done!”. Yes those were her exact words, we even have it on video. We celebrated on the pier a bit. We called our families back home in Alabama and Louisiana. We went on to celebrate with friends at a local restaurant that evening and bask in a beautiful circle of support in love that we built in Maryland.
