Mill City Museum

DO NOT SLEEP ON THE FLOUR MILL MUSEUM IT’S SO GOOD YOU SHOULD GO TO IT. Well-acclaimed in the museum world (if you even care!) and Kirbie’s top museum rec :) The mill district in general has lots of great little shops, eateries, and lovely walking paths (down by the river along the ruins, across the stone arch bridge, etc.)

Minnesota History Center

345 West Kellogg Boulevard, Saint Paul, MN 55102

Conveniently located in downtown St Paul–this is a fantastic history center. Their permanent exhibits are interesting, and they have great rotating ones, as well. Bomb gift shop, too.

Minneapolis Institute of Art

2400 3rd Avenue South, Minneapolis, MN 55404

You could spend all day admiring pretty things here, and it’s free! Electric Fetus is nearby if you like record shops. Check out the period rooms–Kirbie’s fave part

Walker Art Center

725 Vineland Place, Minneapolis, MN 55403

Worth looking if any rotating exhibitions pique your interest. (Not free)

Can Can Wonderland - St. Paul

Adult arcade/mini golf course with each hole made by local artists. Zany and magic. Booze and carnival-ish food available.

Hunt and Gather

The fullest antique/junk shop you’ve ever seen. Hard to move in, but fun to explore!

Architectural Antiques

Historic preservation furniture/architectural elements. Fun to explore if you like old things.

Even if you don’t plan on purchasing any furniture, it is a fun activity to walk the floors and see the mock rooms. Also, the Swedish meatballs are a pretty good post window shopping snack.

Isles Bun & Coffee

Great coffeeshop/bakery. Take it to go and enjoy while walking around Lake of the Isles.
