Our wedding will take place on August 9th, 2024 at Sikh Study Circle fo St. Louis.
Due to space constraints, we kindly request that speak to the bride and groom before bringing a plus-one.
A traditional Punjabi wedding typically includes events such as Roka, Chunni ceremony, Mehendi, Sangeet, Anand Karaj (the Sikh wedding ceremony), and the reception.
The Mehendi ceremony involves applying henna designs to the bride's hands and feet. It is a joyous occasion filled with music, dance, and traditional rituals.
The Sangeet ceremony is a festive pre-wedding event where family and friends come together to sing, dance, and celebrate. It often includes performances and skits.
The Anand Karaj is the Sikh wedding ceremony, which includes the recitation of hymns and the exchange of vows before the Guru Granth Sahib Ji. It typically lasts about 1-2 hours.
While there is no strict dress code, guests are encouraged to wear traditional Punjabi attire such as salwar kameez for women (no dresses) and kurta pajama or formal attire for men.
Common Punjabi wedding traditions include Milni (meeting of the families), Lavaan, and Doli (farewell ceremony for the bride).
Transportation to and from the venue is not provided. We recommend arranging for rideshare services or carpooling with other guests.
While we encourage you to capture special moments, we kindly ask that you refrain from using photography or making any videos till after the ceremony is completed. However during the reception take all the pictures you want. The groom is a great model.
