It all started with a lot of crushed pepper… Okay let me back track a bit. Our story started with one of my best friends introducing me and Sameer to each other. We started talking about everything and anything and knew we wanted to meet in person. Sameer came to visit me in New York October 7, 2021. We went to Joe’s Pizza and huddled in the corner as we had our slices. I was putting crushed pepper on my slice and I asked Sameer if he wanted any, he dutifully replied yes. I put so much crushed pepper on his pizza but Sameer handled it like a champ, I only heard about it months later. That’s when I knew, this could be the start of something special.
During Summer 2021, on my first trip to New York with my best friend, we met up with someone we knew from the area -- who turned out to be Kiran's childhood friend! She thought Kiran and I would hit it off, so she passed along Kiran's number. Sure enough, we did! After two months of getting to know each other over the phone, we met for the first time back in New York in October 2021. Kiran, picked Joe's Pizza for our first date. Neither of us remember what we talked about, only that it felt natural and easy -- like we'd known each other forever. Now, two and a half years -- and 25 roundtrip flights between Dallas and New York -- later, here we are getting ready to celebrate our wedding!
Sameer! My grand romantic gesture was a simple text message that began, "Hey, I'm Sameer!" Maybe not the most original, but it worked.
We are homebodies, nothing better than a quiet weekend arguing over whether to watch Star Wars or Legally Blonde. We usually just agree on Friends!
Catch Steakhouse in New York. We spent Kiran's birthday with a nice dinner and picked up an ice cream cone from Mister Softee's truck on the way back.
We've had so many amazing ones that it's hard to choose. One that stands out above the rest is when we went to go see Aladdin on Broadway together. It was Sameer's first ever Broadway show, and he absolutely loved it! We had a nice lunch right before and got caught in a rainstorm as we were leaving the theatre -- but it was still completely worth it. Definitely an amazing and unforgettable day!
Last October, we spent a few days in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico for Kiran's friend's wedding. We took some photos on the beach together and had a blast. It was incredible!
The most important thing: life.
To have a relationship our future kids want to emulate.
