Schedule of Events

The Wedding Website of Kiran Charania and Hanif Shamji
Our Wedding weekend will consist of four events: 1. Welcome Dinner - Informal 2. Pithi Ceremony - The Pithi ceremony is an occasion in which family and friends bless the couple with well wishes by rubbing the Pithi paste onto the bride and groom’s arms and face. The paste is believed to be an excellent cleanser for providing glowing skin. This ceremony will be followed by a "Dirty Pithi " for the groom. This fun and messy ceremony symbolizes the grooms passage into marriage, in the form of eggs, flour, condiments, etc. (Must see event!) 3. Sangeet & Mehndi - This evening will be filled with music, mehndi (henna), and dances performed by family/friends. The purpose of this traditional event is to rejoice and celebrate the union of two families. 4. Wedding Ceremony & Reception - The Nikkah (Wedding Ceremony) will be performed by the respected leaders of our Jamatkhana. This ceremony represents the union of two people. The reception will be a big celebration to complete the weekend!
