Like many couples these days, we met through online dating (OKCupid, to be precise). Our first date took place on the patio at 12South Taproom on a surprisingly temperate February evening in 2018. Kira was late because she was dealing with a church situation. Over beers and chips & queso, the seeds of intrigue were planted, and other dates soon followed. Approximately 8 weeks into casually dating, Michael went to New Zealand for two months. The whole "absence makes the heart grown fonder" thing turned to have some truth to it, and we kept in touch as best we were able. Shortly after Michael's return to Nashville, we decided to give it a go more seriously. As we spent more time together, it became clear that we had similar values, approaches to life, and were compatible in areas large and small. It became harder to think about not spending the rest of our lives together, so in early November 2019, Michael put a ring on it in St. Louis Cemetery No. 1 in New Orleans.
