We met in the summer of 2022 as friends of friends of friends, playing Spikeball in the park. Neither of us likes Spikeball, or parks… or those friends, really. We both love sad music, and despite talks of open mics and playing guitar and piano together, we just never did. Instead, we quietly watched each other’s lives from across the room. After years of pining Jay finally said, “I like you, but not in a weird way,” and Kira replied with the song lyrics, “I want to love you, but not in a weird way.” , despite both liking and loving each other in very weird ways. Before we knew it, we had already formed the band Toby Loeb and The McBains. Now we get to celebrate with all our favourite humans… and some other people we had to invite to get the numbers up.
