We took a little road trip to drink some wine in Napa and visit Jamie's family in Sacramento for Thanksgiving. The day after Thanksgiving we went for a day trip to Yosemite. It was a cold and rainy day but we decided to hike around anyway. After a quick visit to Bridal Falls we hiked along a trail under Half Dome. Jamie started hiking off trail as he often does and of course I followed. While standing in the rain and mud under Half Dome, Jamie nervously got down on one knee and proposed with his late mom's beautiful wedding ring. He had a backpack full of wine, crackers, and cheese that he cut with a pocket knife ready for a celebratory picnic. Due to inclement weather we skipped the picnic and continued on our hike. We made it to one more waterfall for a photo op and found the lodge to warm up and drink a hot toddy. Although it wasn't exactly as he planned, it was perfect.
We took a long weekend trip to Cambria in April 2019 to visit some family and do a bit of hiking. While out exploring we were taken on an amazing little hike in San Simeon just under Hearst Castle. Our hike started along a sandy beach, continuing up a hill, to a path that took us through a beautiful forest. As we hiked along the tree lined path we veered off the main road and ended up on the cliff side overlooking the ocean. We knew immediately that we had found our spot to get married. The logistics were a bit tricky because there was no space to reserve or a road to the cliff side, but it was exactly where we wanted to be. So just four short months later we gathered up our family and led them on a 1.5 mile adventure through the sand and dirt with Kira's must have copper arch and wedding clothes in hand. We had the wedding of our dreams. This place represents everything that we love about one another and the dedication our family shares for us and our love of adventure. We found the place where the forest meets the sea.
