Kira and Dan were both burning the candle at both ends. They both had multiple jobs: 1 for bills and the other to hopefully build a career. So, they did what any millenials in the same situation - hit the apps. After burning through tindr and fumbling through bumble they did the impossible and made a face-to-face date. At an Irish pub in St. Charles, IL amongst the hum of a fiddle and the sound of Irish folks songs Kira and Dan's eyes first met and it felt like meeting an old friend. The conversation flowed naturally - almost too naturally. After 45 minutes the waiter pleaded with them to pause long enough to order and even suggested that Dan order for Kira since he, "clearly knew her so well". A few hours later and they were both pretty sure a second date was on the way. Their second date is a bit of a long story involving a concussion, a coyote, and the moment Kira knew she was never making the mistake of letting Dan go. After weathering the storms of difficult bosses, career changes, buying and renovating their first home, and the whole of the pandemic - Kira and Dan deserved some magic and Dan made sure it would happen. Dan insisted that Kira make it home early from work for a special surprise. The 2 got in the car and headed straight for one of their favorite nature areas in Milwaukee, Wehr Nature Center. After taking a hike in the chilly weather they found a quiet spot by the lakeside where Dan nervously began proposing. After Kira non-chalantly told him it would "be pretty chill" to spend the rest of their lives together, Dan got down on one knee and popped the question. Kira did in fact realize he was actually proposing at this point and there were tears. After a trans-continental video call and some coffee, Kira and Dan headed straight to the Milwaukee County Zoo to bask in the glow of their new engagement and the Zoo Lights.
