How We Met

Our first meeting was when I opened the door to the singles group at church that we both joined.  His initial reaction was to think how old do you have to be to be in the group and he literally went and asked one of the leaders.  Little did he know that I was actually 22 years old (I just looked like I was 16).  After that initial meet we got to know each other in a deeper way throughout the semester of the small group.  The change in our relationship really began to change when we went to a concert with several other group members.  We got to talk on a deeper level and had more time to get to know each other on a more personal level, like what we wanted for our future and such.  When I came back my sister’s boyfriend saw pictures of us and texted her and asked why we were not dating and then found out my entire family all thought the same thing even with the age difference!  From there I really thought I was being obvious to him that I liked him, but he was completely oblivious to that.  Finally, one of our mutual friends literally had to tell him to ask me out because I liked him!  So, he did ask me out, but his mindset was we would go on one date and that would be it.  Little did he know that it was the beginning of the rest of our lives together!  Since then we have continued to go closer and the love between us has grown!

The Proposal

It was a total surprise and so thoughtful and loving. He proposed at our church. After service was over he told me to go pick up his son Logan from kids church. Little did I know that this was just a ploy to get me out of the sanctuary. Logan was in on what was to come and his mission was to keep me in the welcome area. Finally about 15 minutes later I hear Chris say "Kira Colthurst, paging Kira Colthurst, please come to the front" over the loud speakers. When I walked in he was standing on the stage. He told me to come to him and told me that "I had all our family get together." When I got up onto the stage with him he then told me "I don't do everything exactly right and usually I mess things up but I know what I want in the end and thats you, will you marry me?" Of course I said yes and when he got down on one knee to present me with the ring I legit grabbed it from him and put it on my hand myself I was so excited! It was the most special moment and in the most perfect of ways and I could not have asked for a better way for him to propose!
