How we met

Oktoberfest 2013

Kira and Nick met by chance, or some may say fate, at an Oktoberfest block party and immediately caught each other's eye. They were instantly drawn to each other, and in true Oktoberfest fashion, they both partook in the ceremonial over-pouring of the evening. After a boisterous night of debauchery, Kira and Nick were both feeling the spark, but leaving it up to the universe, they forgot to exchange contact information. Thankfully, they tracked each other down through mutual friends and have never looked back! Here they are, eight years later, still in love and tyin' the knot!

The Proposal

August 2019

After a wonderful weekend celebrating Kira's birthday, Nick planned an amazing dinner for Kira and two of her best girlfriends, Nadine and Isabel. At her favorite restaurant in Old Town, they shared a delicious meal outside in the late afternoon sun while listening to live music and enjoying fresh mango margaritas. After dinner they went for a walk and grabbed dessert. Nick had an ice cream place in mind, so they ordered their scoops and walked to a picnic bench under a huge tree to enjoy their dessert. Here's when Nick's plan kicked into high gear. Nick asked Kira if she'd like to try his ice cream, and he even ordered a flavor she liked, hoping she'd be more tempted to try it. But to his dismay, she declined his offer, preferring her mint chip to his cookies and cream. But he insisted, or as Nick says, "persistently requested multiple times" and Kira finally gave in. After taking the smallest bite, she realized his spoon was different than hers. His was cold and metal, and hers was plastic and light. She looked down at the spoon and there it was. Engraved in the spoon, she read the words she'd always dreamt of reading since they day they met: Will you marry me? Surprised and elated, she answered, “Are you crazy?! Yes yes yes!!” and they hugged in celebration as Isabel and Nadine cried tears of happiness and caught the whole thing on film. We are so excited to embark on this next chapter in our lives, and we can’t wait to celebrate with all of you! See you in San Diego!

The Ring

One in a Million

In 2018, Isabel was in town visiting Kira. After a boozy brunch, Kira and Isabel went to an antique shop on a whim, and Kira tried on her gorgeous art-deco inspired ring. She told Nick about it that night and he told her to show him next time they were in the neighborhood. 8 months later, Kira and Nick returned to that same antique shop together to browse rings. In a wild turn of events, they found out that the antique shop had been robbed the day before, and the main thing they stole were the trays of antique rings in the front of the store! Devastated, they talked to the shop owner and heard the whole story while they tried to pick out a different ring. The shop owner asked Kira to describe the ring to her, in hopes that she could find something similar. As Kira was describing the ring, the shop owner ran to the back, and brought out the exact ring Kira had tried on nearly a year prior! Serendipitously, a few pieces including Kira's ring had fallen out as the thieves made their getaway through the parking lot. Kira's ring and a few other pieces of jewelry had been returned to the shop by some good Samaritans, and in just a few short months later, Nick took it off the shelf for good.
